The council meeting was proceeding poorly.
Voices were raised. Opinions repeated themselves. No one was listening, and everyone was certain they were correct. King Mohg the Fourth sat patiently, tail wagging, doing his best.
Pebble did not sit patiently.
She barked.
Once.
It echoed off the stone walls and landed squarely in the center of the room.
Silence followed.
Mohg looked delighted.
He stood, stretched, and declared the meeting concluded.
Several council members protested that nothing had been decided.
Mohg responded by scratching Pebble behind the ears.
The meeting ended immediately.
Later, when asked why he dismissed the council so abruptly, the king replied:
“She made her point.”
No one argued.
